Darrell Alston, CEO, Bungee Brand
A self-taught designer, Darrell Alston launched Bungee Brand in 2019 with a small collection of his fashion-forward sneakers.
After receiving financing from a private investment group in 2020, Alston expanded with Bungee Obleceni, a line of upscale sneakers and apparel made in Europe with luxury grade materials and craftsmanship.
In late 2021, Bungee’s sneakers launched at Foot Locker in the King of Prussia Mall, making Alston the first Philadelphia designer to be carried by the footwear retailer. In 2022, the Bungee fall collection launched with a trunk show at Neiman Marcus King of Prussia. Alston was the first Philadelphia designer to have sneakers in Neiman Marcus, and the event set a sales record.
In 2023, Alston launched Bungee USA, a collection of luxury fan gear that pays homage to the style and spirit of sports teams. Bungee USA’s sweater-like football jerseys were an immediate hit. Alston’s team-inspired sneakers and baseball apparel drop in 2024.
Bungee’s name is a nod to Alston’s past, which has more ups and downs than a bungee jump. Once an up-and-coming rapper, Alston spent several years in a PA state prison after being convicted of selling drugs. While incarcerated, Alston sketched designs for what would become Bungee’s first line of footwear.
Bungee USA and Bungee Obleceni are divisions of Bungee Brand, LLC.
